It might be an Idea to also post your operating system (XP/Vista/7/8) for the best advice
If running Vista 7 or 8 did you try running it as administrator (right click setup, choose run as admin)Posted 11 years ago # -
I'd check your security software to see if it's reporting a problem. There is one report of a "virus" in the comments that's most likely a false positive. If your security software finds a virus, even erroneously, it will terminate the installation.

Thanks for those help messages. I have passed it thru my security and everything is ok. I am using Windows 7.

Make sure you're extracting the files from the .zip file you downloaded. There should be 3 files in each of today's .zip files -- readme.txt, setup.exe [3.14 MB (3,294,328 bytes) for each], & setup.gcd [8.39 MB (8,806,776 bytes) or 15.8 MB (16,580,006 bytes)]... if not, or if the .exe &/or .gcd file is smaller after you try to run it, your AV software may be deleting or quarantining the file(s) -- also when that happens the AV software usually records that to some sort of log you can check. And it doesn't hurt to right-click setup.exe, selecting Run as admin from the pop-up menu. Last 2 things I can think of at the moment, besides checking the info in the forum stickies, is to also check Task Mgr. to make sure setup.exe isn't already running, & making sure you have sufficient user rights & the needed disk space for the GOTD setup file to expand everything in your Temp folder.
Generally if there's a chance that your security software is interfering you can try to exclude the 2 GOTD files or the folder they're in, or you might be able to turn real-time scanning off. If you're behind a router with NAT, you might feel safe enough to try turning off your Anti-Virus & firewall, but that choice is up to you.
