Interlocked (4.7Mb)
Want to attempt one of the more difficult, as in extremely hard, really ***** difficult (!) puzzle games available for free? It came out just two weeks ago, and you can either play it online, or download the swf file from Softpedia using the link below; and play it offline, either using your browser, or using Swiff player or MPC Star (free swf players). Alternatively, it can be downloaded with any download helper as the swf file for ‘Interlocked’ isn’t website locked.
There are a lot of good flash games out there and where they are downloadable, I’m more than happy to list them here; especially if they are new or newer and not previously mentioned in the forum, as well of course, being worthy contenders! {I won’t list flash games here that are free but site locked and can’t be played offline; however good they may be; simply as a matter of principle!}
‘Interlocked’ involves manipulating shaped blocks of the same sort you might have played as a youngster with wooden blocks, but this is mind-bendingly difficult after the first level or two! I haven’t scratched my head as much in a long time!

The interlocked blocks can be rotated 360 degrees in any direction with the mouse, using the glance option, and then by clicking on the tool icon to enlarge the shape, pieces can be moved or manipulated if the geometry of the other shapes allows this in any direction! The aim is to disassemble each puzzle. Far easier said than done! In fact that is a huge, as in massive understatement. The shapes are beautifully rendered and the game plays sublimely smoothly. There’s great music as you play, which can be turned off too.
The games graphics and playability are outstanding, as is the user interface, allowing the locked together shapes to be viewed from any direction. The logic involved in solving some of the levels is excruciatingly exact, and the shapes will only unlock initially in one way. You do start getting hints if you need them after the first several levels or so. The hints are just that, and may only be slightly helpful in solving a puzzle(eg rotate the shape and examine from different angles to try to release the . . . block). I only used one of the hints but I’ve tried and solved the first thirteen levels and the word that comes to mind for some of these levels has been Ouch! As in making my head hurt solving them! There are 20 levels to solve, with the last six being notably difficult.
The puzzles are really intriguingly good and some are a great (and sometimes desperate!) challenge to solve! There’s also a Challenge mode to try which is only unlocked when you have solved the 20 levels in normal mode. The difficulty ramps up nicely as well for the first few levels of play.

It’s really well worth trying levels properly yourself, before resorting (as a last option!) to the walkthrough video! Be warned, it’s a highly challenging game, and sometimes you move one piece a little just to move another piece ever so slightly, and getting some pieces out is a tortuous and sometimes lengthy procedure. It’s a great feeling though when you release the first piece, and even better when the whole of each puzzle is solved! The more so when you know just how difficult it’s been to solve!
Do you have the visual thinking skills to master all of the 3d puzzle levels, where you've to try and untangle all the block tiles by moving and rotating pieces in glorious 3D Technicolor?
It's all the more astonishing, for being so well rendered using a flash platform, to engineer the game!
This is an outstanding game, provided you’ve loads of patience and plenty of time to spare! It can get frustratingly difficult, but all 20 of the puzzles are solvable! (#!*^# . . . - It’s just finding out how!) I was astonished at how good (and how difficult!) some of the puzzles are!
