I downloaded the latest game - Sunset Studio Behind the Scenes - that's apparently got 3D graphics so sounded interesting. When I tried to run it, I got a message that a certain .dll file was missing, and after some Googling I found that this might be because I hadn't got the latest version of DirectX. I've checked it out and I've actually got DirectX version 11, but reading the info about it from the Microsoft website it suggests that some games really need DirectX version 9. If I were to install version 9, what implications would this have on my system? I've got Windows 7 64-bit OS, and certainly don't want to compromise anything simply in order to play a game - I'd be happier not bothering. It seems odd as I've played plenty of older games without any problem (and newer ones too).
Problem with running a JenKat game - possibly DirectX version

Hi Littlemaggit
I have Windows 7 64-bit with DirectX11 and had to install version 9 for some games. DirectX9 does not replace version 11...I have both on my laptop and it runs without a problem. For some reason 11 doesn't do something that 9 does (I don't know what).
Sunset Studio Behind the Scene is a different type of HOG. I had it free on my Vista computer and bought it for my Windows 7.
It's been awhile since I played it, but what I remember:
There are several camera views that are constantly panning -- you have to switch between them and the object has to be in view when you click it (sometimes difficult to get the timing correct). The objects are 3D and some look strange.
You don't have to find all the objects, but you have to earn stars to advance and there is a timer. You can replay locations (levels).
There is a mini game -- swat bugs. There are achievements.
I like the game :)Posted 11 years ago # -
This same game is available on MyPlayCity.com and has been for some time. Of the three Sunset Studios games, this one, Behind the Scenes is the one I didn't keep.
The swapping camera angles just accentuates the main weakness in the game -- the graphics are poor! The other two games don't show this same problem.
I have tried it on my Windows 7 and both of the other games (I think this one is number 3) work fine -- in windowed mode. The second one has a few problems with the mouse disappearing in full-screen mode if you use certain features.
Kvtto is correct. You can have multiple versions of DirectX running concurrently on your system. Each version is supposed to be a superset of the previous ones and run those products as well. Obviously, something is funny with 9c in that many games require THAT version to run correctly. It's not a problem.
