Maybe I've missed it all this time because I've gotten Facebook recently, but I see a new Like button for today's giveaway. Looks like it's the month of experimentation. GOTD's getting more social. I wonder what the merits of using Facebook to promote software are...

GMMan, I have a Facebook account, but honestly rarely ever use it. I don't mind some sort of social networking, whick if evidenced by my presence on these (GOTD) forums, but do enjoy those where I don't have to be ultra-ultra careful of who sees what I post, and can see any personal info I might be required to provide. I *was* following such businesses as Hancock Fabrics, and Big Fish Games, and had chosen to go 'Friendless'. Something happened to/on my account, not too long back, and my 'followings' got deleted. I honestly don't even miss those, or Facebook, itself. In fact, I could even must delete my account.
As for "GOTD's getting more social", if it's to increase the public's awareness of their existence, and thus their income/profits, that's a good way, because so many people are using those sorts of social networking sites.

<shudder> facebook, twitter, myspace and all the rest of the 'here-I-am-swat-me' services make me want to scream.
The new 'who-cares?' generation, yeah, they use that stuff- judging from my niece most of them don't think anything of posting the most private details of what they do, but not us crusty armor-plated dinosaurs that take privacy seriously.
Social networking sites are just another way to get yourself in hot water way down the road for a seemingly innocent or amusing post now. There are also some older people who don't think they need privacy, but I ain't gonna be one of them.

I love Facebook's new like button and am implementing it on my site. As for privacy concerns I have nothing to hide so I don't care about people knowing my stuffs lol
