STEAM is having EA week with a different EA game on special each day (until 10am PST the next morning). Monday the special is on Crysis. Crysis is $14.99, Crysis Warhead is $9.99 or you can get both in with the Crysis Maximum Edition for $19.99. These are all 50% off the standard STEAM price. Think I will check out the EA games and see what might interest me if it were half price or so.

Thanks Campy, I've not checked Steam today yet. I think I have all the EA games I want at present though. :)

Tuesday (until 10am Pacific time Wednesday) is military day. They have Battlefield 2 Complete Collection for $14.99 (50%) and Battlefield Bad Company 2 for $33.49 (33% off).

Tuesday's games include the Battlefield 2 complete collection that includes Battlefield 2, Battlefield 2: Special Forces plus the two booster packs Euroforce and Armed Assault; though the latter two are now always free when you patch the game to the latest 1.50 version. Steam automatically patches the game to the latest version anyway, which is cool because the various patches that have been released include several excellent new maps. On top of all that there are hundreds of Gigabytes of mods and maps available for this game, though to play them via Steam you would have to add the botchanger program (that's free) that enables you to play any mod and the maps associated with those mods. I have around 1000 custom made maps for Battlefield 2, which is enought to keep you going for years to come. Despite the game being 5 years old this month, the graphics are still good looking. I still consider this one of the best FPS games around; in part because of the open world aspect of the game, plus the ability to fly loads of different vehicles. Using the botchanger you can increase the number of bots on any map to 128 bots, which is the maximum the game engine can work with. The latest version of the botchanger actually allows you to change the number of bots to 256, but 128 of them will just stand around wherever they spawn. If you install some of the mods such as the Black Ops Mercenaries mod (BOM), which is a Special forces mod, the Allied Intent X mod, Eve of Destruction mod, PoE2 mod or the Nations at War v5 mod you'll find many new vhicles added, or upgrades to default vehicles. Some mods take the game into the second world war, others to the IndoChina war and yet others to imaginary Pirates or even a lego mod. There's something for everyone.
You can buy the package for 50% off which is a mere £7.49 (approx $14)
The second deal is for the latest Battlefield Bad cCompany 2, which has been getting reviews saying that it's better than the much vaunted Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 game and I agree; after playing both, Battlefield Bad company wins easily. It's a brilliant game with amazing realism. If you though the opening level to Modern Warfare 2 was WOW, then you'll wonder what's hit you when you start playing Bad Company 2.
You can get Bad Company for 33% off. That's £20.90 (approx $34).
There's also the chance to preorder the next installment of the Medal of Honor franchise. Pre ordering also gives you early access to the Beta release.
The Medal of Honor series has always been overshadowed by the Call of duty series, both of which started out around the same time about 10 years ago. I actually preffered the Medal of Honor games to the Call of duty games initially, though I must admit, The last MoH game called Medal of Honor: Airborne wasn't as good as it's competitor Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. There was supposed to have been another release called Medal of honor: Frontlines released over ayear ago, but it's still in production (I've had it on pre-order since Feb 1998, lol)
These offers are only good till Wednesday 10am PST (around 6pm GMT) when a new set of games will be offered. I'd seriously consider buying the Battlefield 2 games if you don't already own them. It's a fantastic game and with some of the mods I'd say brilliant.

p.s.
didn't notice your post Campy, lol.Posted 14 years ago # -
No problem rabbit. You provided much more detail than I did. Like you I am not sure that EA has any games of interest to me that I don't already own, but it is nice they are making them available at a discount. I sometimes buy a copy on Steam just for the convenience when I already have a boxed version.

I have also purchased many games ia steam that I already own on disc, or via other sources such as GOG or direct 2 Drive. The convinience, the fact that the games are updated to the latest versions, plus the cost of the games (usually when they are on a deal) has converted me to digital downloads, though I still buy the occasional DVd based game. I have Battlefield 2 three times now. The original, then the Deluxe edition and then the Steam version. I had to replace the original because the disc is cracked at the hub and is in danger of being totally wiped out. I replaced it with the Deluxe version last year before they packaged the 2 booster packs; but those are now free anyway so long as you update to the v1.50 patch. I decided to get it on steam when it was half price earlier this year. Again just for the convinience. At least I can now set up a three player coop game on my local network. Ideal for my son and his friends.
I'd love to see the complete Battlefield collection available on Steam. I still play all of them despite BF1942 and Battlefeld Vietnam being rather dated now. The open world and availability of hundreds of custom made maps for all of the versions apart from Battlefield 2142 keeps me playing them. for some reason they never released the singleplayer editor for BF2142, so there wern't many custom made maps made.

Well Wednesday (until 10am Pacific) is Command & Conquer Day. The specials are C&C 4: Tiberian Twilight for $33.49 (33% off), C&C 3: Tiberian Wars for $14.99 (50%), C&C 3: Kane's Wrath for $9.99 (50%), C&C Red Alert 3 for $14.99 (50%) and C&C Red Alert 3 - Uprising for $4.99 (75% off).

Thursday is racing day. The games are Burnout Paradise: The Ultimate Box for $7.49 (75% off), Need for Speed: Shift for $22.49 (25% off) and Need for Speed Undercover for $4.99 (50%). These prices are good until 10am Pacific on Friday. I already have Burnout. I think I got it at on special around Christmas time, probably with WR recommended it. I have played it a little and it seems fun, but I have an enormous backlog of games and haven't gotten very far into it. I have several of the older NfS games, but don't think I have either of these. Some of these I find fun for a diversion from the role playing and strategy games I play the most. May have to check out Undercover at this price.

Yet more that I already have, though I may get Burnout Paradise again as I'll more likely play it on Steam.
The latest NFS game is probably the best they've released for a long time. The game looks good and plays well. The game has a feature that allows the games AI to adjust the game play so that if you're rubbish at racing games it'll adjust the AI so that you have a chance at winning or doing reasonably well. I also liked last years NFS, which was more like an open world racing game, not disimilar to Burnout Paridise, but with an AI that would cause police to chase you if you went over the speed limit, plus there were various points where you could set up a race (similar to Test Drive unlimited).
I think together with Colin McRae's Dirt 2 Need For Speed: Shift is one of the best racing games around at present; though I've not been able to buy the latest racing game that looks good called Split/Second because it's not available in the UK yet.

Bought BBC2 on Wednesday and Burnout Paradise today.I think that will do me this week!
I recieved copy of NFS Shift when I bought a second hand graphics card a couple of weeks ago and it also seems like an interesting game.Posted 14 years ago # -
Friday's offering (until 10am Pacific on Saturday) is Mirror's Edge for $4.99 (75% off), Dead Space for $9.99 (50%), and a variety of SPORE choices all for 33% off. SPORE by itself goes for $26.79, the Creepy & Cute Parts pack is available for $13.39, Galactic Adventures is $20.09 and a Complete pack with all three is $60.27.
The reviews on NFS Undercover weren't too good so I decided to pass on it. Might try Shift when the price comes down some more on it, but for now I decided I had more than enough other games and if I wanted some more car action I would rather try some more of Burnout Paradise.

Who wants to take a guess that Sunday will be Fifa day!? lol that's about all that's left now that today is Mass Effect day.
Posted 14 years ago # -
WoO, how about the Sims? Madden, Tiger Woods, NHL, NBA, or sports with with a variety of sports games?
As WoO said, Saturday (until 10 am Pacific on Sunday) is Mass Effect Day. Mass Effect is $4.99 (75% off), Mass Effect 2 is $23.99 (40% off) and Mass Effect 2 Digital Deluxe Edition is $35.99 (40% off).

The only EA games left on Steam that they haven't offered yet are Dragon Age, Warhammer Online, Battleforge, and Fifa Manager 10 and 09. I just figure with the World Cup going on right now, Fifa would be their choice for Sunday. Of course Dragon Age is another good guess.
Posted 14 years ago # -
WoO, now I understand. Those other EA games I listed aren't available on Steam. Your guess makes sense, particularly with the World Cup going on now. Since I recently bought the superior Football Manager 2010 when Steam had that on sale, I wouldn't be very interested in FIFA manager. I suppose they could do Dragon Age, but I already have that and the others wouldn't make much sense. We'll see in a few hours.

Well Sunday (until 10am Pacific on Monday) actually did turn out to be Dragon Age Day. The following variations of Dragon Age are available: Dragon Age Origins for $26.79 (33% off), Dragon Age Origins Digital Deluxe Edition for $33.49 (33% off - this adds more than the usual Deluxe stuff in that it adds a mission that gives you a base of operations that can be used for storage, in my opinion this should have been in the base package), Dragon Age Origins Awakening for $29.99 (25% off), Origins & Awakening for $47.99 (40% off) and Origins Deluxe & Awakening for $53.99 (40% off).

This title is well worth getting if you are into anything RPG like. Gorgeous graphics and excellent story led campaign. When I first played Dragonage I was rather disappointed as I was hoping for something better than Oblivion. I ended up not bothering with it for several weeks after the first try; but soon returned to playing it as I hadn't seen a bed review written about it and was curious. I'm glad I did return. No it's not Oblivion, but it's just as good IMO. Plus there are a growing number og mods available to further expand the game. You can get up to 40% off depending on whether you buy the whole package or seperate titles.
