I have downloaded 6 different software programs from this site and not a single one will activate. Yes I tried to activate the programs while the download was still active. Like in as soon as I finished the download. Today was no different, Wise Cleaner Pro, tried for 10 hours, it won't get to the activation page, it stops and says sorry try again later.
waste of time, trust me I won't be back.
This site is the biggest waste of time I have ever come across

Pookie,rofl
Yes I tried to activate the programs while the download was still active
what could that possibly mean? that makes no sense whatsoever

hosts file, firewall (software or hardware) rule or blacklist that corks the authentication server (would be nice if somebody would post the ip, range, or port used) will do that. I'm guessing it's not port 80 or you couldn't download the giveaway.
in 2 years I've not had a problem that wasn't one of those. and that's through 2 cascaded routers each with a SPI firewall and software swat-its.
ok, online armor++ has been a pita at times needing permission for a .TMP file to run, but activate.exe I put in the trust list and no hassles since. try turning off the m$ firewall on xp and above. and run with admin rights.

I agree with goody, sounds like a firewall/blacklist issue to me. I wish people would TRY to figure out what is wrong and think OUTSIDE the box before coming in here and blasting GOTD and throwing profanities around.

I have the answer, Txnnok. When I read brainpup's post ("Yes I tried to activate the programs while the download was still active") first thought was the person was trying to activate the program while it was STILL downloading. They didn't mean this. I'm sure the person meant that the program was downloaded, and THEN he tried to activate it during the download/install time period permitted by GOTD.
Yup, his/her comment threw me through a loop also.

Brainpup? Couldn't succeed where thousands of others do everyday? Its happening on your end Brainpup. I'd change my username. Ditto Pookie.

<sigh> It's sad to see people blame problems on the server end rather than on their end. Sure, GOTd have hiccups at times, but if it's a constant thing then it's bound to be on the client side. People who thinks they know everything... :(

The problem is they DON'T think! They "assume" that it can't be their fault. Come on - it stands to reason that if there was that much trouble then the site wouldn't stay alive! Common sense says that if most people have no problem and you do then it's probably your fault. Common sense is very uncommon! Also, they should know how to spell "assume"!

Some people just don't get it!

Wizzard, along with what you said, if people would come here to the forums, and instead of spouting off the way brainpup did, state the problem(s) they are experiencing and get help. It's kind of silly to wait until you've experienced the same problem with *6* or more downloads to say something.

@goodgotd: The activation server is the GOTD server. Everything on the regular GOTD is ran from this domain. So... Activation URL is http://www.giveawayoftheday/activate/?id=XXXXX, and the port is :80 (regular HTTP).

Everyone knows that if there was a problem on GOTD's end this forum would be filled full of post's. Ditto on eRenegades post and everyone else's.
