Hi - Does anyone know where to find out monthly what Alawar's free game is? Is there a certain page for it or is it in their newsletter if subscribed to? Thanks!

Go to Alawar's game page and download their gamebox then you can download their monthly game. Hope this helps.

Thank you for your reply. Where on their site do you get the gamebox? Do you get it by downloading one of their games? Also, have you ever had any trouble with their games? Norton Internet Security comes up with a popup saying site is unsafe because of 3 computer threats. I check it and it mentions 3 different viruses in I think 2 different games. Thanks again!

Hi Niagara, I checked the alawar.com site on McAfee's siteadvisor.com, and it does indicate that there are malware/trojan security risks on the alawar.com site - not every game, but some of the games. So, be very careful about what you download from this site.

Niagra,
You can get the gamebox from the games. If you do not have GameBox, when you install a game, you are given an option to install Gamebox as well.
That may be the cause of the virus checks. I've seen them with Avira and all have been determined to be false positives.

I just felt I had to make a point about Alawar games due to the warning about downloading games from them. Such comments when not properly referenced may create a false sense of 'insecurity' and could put off potential customers to such a site.
I've purchased over 50 games from Alawar and have been visiting the site regularily for over four years and have never had any problems with the site or any of the games I've downloaded. I've used several security packages over that time and none have ever picked up any signs of infection.
That said its always a good idea to check any file you download onto your computer. :)

I though I should reference the information above so that the community can check for themselves:
You can check out McAfee's information about Alawar.com HERE
The following is the bare bones of what's been said. As you can see, the site is still given a Green rating by McAfee site Advisor.
Many green downloads
In our tests, we found a small fraction of downloads on this site that some people consider adware or other potentially unwanted programs.
There were three in the list Joes Farm, Pickman and Sumitup. I’ve contacted Alawar to inform them of the potential problem.
The giveaway site was actually marked down as a red site for nearly a year back in 2007 to 2008 due to someone posting a freeware application in the freeware library. Despite the giveaway team removing the said program as soon as they found out, the site continued to be labelled a red site for many months.
McAfee are still labelling Alawar as a green site but do warn about the three games

I've contacted Alawar management about the three games that are purported to have trojans and will report back when they contact me.
