Today's Deal of the Day is Chicken Invaders for $0.99. It seems to be a schmup. There are only 3 reviews on Amazon, but all 3 love it.

Great game, thanks formaking the community aware of the deal. Thankfully I've already purchased it a few years ago. (though unfortunately for the 'then' price of $19.99. :( There's a freeware version of Chicken invaders available via the games discussion forums:

The developer converted the first game to freeware, the one that's being sold via Amazon is the second in the Series Chicken Invaders: The Second Wave. They are basically the same game with some slight improvements.

A seller got Belle's Beauty Boutique http://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/B001881REG/ref=dp_olp_new?ie=UTF8&condition=new for $52.98 + $7.99 shipping on amazon. I thought I was reading it wrong at first. What a rip off!

Thanks much for the tip, WR, just now downloaded the free chicken invader game.

Yes, thanks WR. I went for the free version myself. Free is better than $0.99, right? :)

I got the free Chicken Invaders game from Interaction Studios, and everything's fine until where it says "Press Fire to Start". Shift keys are supposed to be "fire" keys, so I press them, with no result. Have tried a bunch of other keys also, and all I've accomplished is to turn on the Windows "sticky keys" option (no problem; I turned it back off). I've checked all the help from InterAction Studios website for this game, and there is nothing about this problem.
ESC+Y doesn't work to quit, either. I have to use the Task Manager and kill the process. Which gets me the error message: "Function UveDX:: frame() failed with error: 'Cannot restore all surfaces', error code -2005532085 (This surface cannot be restored because it was created in a different mode.)"
Win XP SP2, all other games working fine. No other keyboard-controlled games, tho, and my keyboard is "original issue" (old IBM from 1992, with no Windows key)...
Any thoughts, anyone? No rush; I'm just curious. (I'd have gotten the other game from Amazon, but I really hate how they do games.) Thanks.

Amazon's game Deal of the Day today is The Great Tree, from Reflexive. This one is $1.29, not $0.99, but it's still a good price if you want the game. As always with Amazon downloads, it is available only to those with a U.S. billing address.
You must save the faeries from their enemies the Ixies in this game, which scores 4 stars from 7 reviews on Amazon. The consensus there seems to be that it is not a fascinating or complex game, but is fun and quite beautiful. The Gamezebo review, which also gives it 4 stars, is here. From the Gamezebo review: Moving at a fast clip, the surprisingly engaging action therefore revolves around frantically dodging opponents, quickly grabbing the random spores that float about, then dropping them off as fast as humanly possible. Fill a meter by collecting enough pollen, and it's off to the next level you go.
