Since they say to never install recovery software on the PC you want to recover the data on, can Lazesoft Recovery be installed and executed from a thumb drive? Does it require Registry entries and must it be installed in the Program Files(x86) directory, etc...

What "they" say is usually correct only if you need to install recovery software at the time you need to use it. It's usually okay to install it in advance on your hard drive (in anticipation of the possibility of needing it in the future).
