Hi, did the download, followed the read-me exactly, got the key, entered the key, message said key activated & stored....but there is an icon that keeps returning - telling me my 3 day subscription will run out ?? What's up with that ??
Thanks for any pointers. The download is still listed as today's giveaway, so I hope this is resolved before the time runs out .

There were quite a few comments about CCleaner in the daily forum. I thought CCleaner was quite different to what East Tec Eraser does. I understand that the latter does permanent erasure by overwriting multiple times, whereas CCleaner simply erases automatically what you don't need to retain. CCleaner does not overwrite, so it does not remove anything completely. Am I correct in that?
Personally I use Hard Disk Scrubber and find it works well.

CCleaner also does the "delete via overwrite" - but it is an option you need to select. The secure deletion is slower - so normal (faster) deletion is the default.
It is called "Secure Deletion" and you access it from "Options"-> "Settings".

A small warning if you 're planning to securely erase(overwrite) the free space of one of your drives monitored by System restore.
Whatever program you are running ,securely erasing 'free space' will give you a warning about running low in disk space. This eventually will cause system restore to delete all your restore points.Posted 16 years ago # -
I also get the "nag" that the subscription is about to expire. This is coming from the Risk Monitor.
Under Help > About in the main program it displays that it is licensed properly (to me, with Key) per following the e-mail licensing procedure, for one licensed computer, but does indeed say that the "Upgrade subscription expires on: 9/1/2008"
Is that their way of saying that it will continue to work, but we will not be entitled to version updates (per the usual GAOTD rules)?
Per their own web page, the latest public release version is 8.9.5.100, and we have the GAOTD version 8.9.5.106, so it's not like we were given an older version, which is OK with me (hopefully without bugs!).
As long as the program doesn't lapse back to a crippled trial functionality on 1-SEP, I'll still be happy. It's just an unsettling way of notifying us.
