You must have the color setting to 32-bit mode, it will NOT work in 16-bit mode.
First when I tried the prog the marker would not do anything, but after I set the color to 32-bit mode it worked.Posted 16 years ago # -
Thanx a lot, it works now!

Robert.. forgive me for saying anything, but I fail to see what you mean about Sandman insulting senior members of this forum? I just can't see what he said that was insulting! I did see the post in German, but can't understand that so maybe I've missed something?

Usually the limitation is to do with available memory on the graphics card. Obviously the higher the resolution the more memory required, and the higher the color depth the more memory required. You might get a 32bit mode available if you drop the screen resolution down.
eg. Perhaps you only have 24bit available at 1024x768, but at 800x600 you have 32bit available. Also check that you are running the latest available version of your video driver - sometimes older drivers do not make some modes available. Failing all else, you might need to purchase a more current video card (assuming you are not running from a laptop).

I just wanted to pass on that this has been an incredibly useful tool for me. Like back in the days of the Stalinists, I've been editing all sorts of stuff out of pictures :-) Does much better around the edges than I ever did with Photoshop.
Now: some news... when the program runs out of ram and shows a blank screen, it turns out that this happens *after* the image processing is complete. It's only a problem with the display of the results, not the processing. So you can save your last run as normal, even though you can't see it. Which given that some runs can take a *very* long time, might not be a bad thing. I'm currently 25% of the way through a job and it has taken over 24hrs so far :-/
This program is good, but it ain't fast. At least not when you start using more area. If the subject is appropriate, an iterative process of making many small removals followed by cleaning up any bad artifiacts created, works OK. But some content just doesn't lend itself to working that way.
I'ld pay money for this software. Something I don't say very often :-) Definitely would like to encourage the author to keep developing it. Maybe the author could get some synergy going by working with Slava, who I believe is also into photographic utils/image processing... get a team started and share the load..?
