Hopefully this isn't redundant. I stumbled onto this game recently, Xonotic is a free multiplayer fps with limited single-player offline mode. Graphics are quite good, there are dozens of levels, active chat, and versions for PC, Mac, and Linux. It is a 1gig download, but requires no installation and apparently makes no registry entries; just extract it and start playing (it will make several online connections, and, for the PC version at lest, will lock up if it cannot connect).
